slim me up fast

Ok, so in an effort to slow the steady rise on my bathroom scale, I started slimfast. I know, typically people don't do that when they are pregnant, but I assure you that I have gained enough weight for two healthy pregnancies and that the baby will get plenty from the slimfast. As will I, actually. So far, it's working. And even though I have been in the typical I'm not getting enough to eat mood, I'm glad it is. My body will realize in the next little while that it doesn't require an eighth of what it thinks it does. So...until next time ladies...

Feel free to ignore; I give advice freely and agree to remain calm if you don't like it :-D

You were one of the ones who led me along my journey from the Standard American Garbage Diet to more healthful eating. Don't fail me now! Have you checked out Sunflower Market in Orem yet? They have fabulous loss leader prices and good prices on the rest of their produce (just stay in the produce section of the store). Last week I bought asparagus for $1/pound, large avocados - 3/$1, and pineapples for $1 each. (My freezer is packed now.) I think your body will appreciate some fresh produce more than the slimfast. I take no issue with you not gaining weight during pregnancy, but it is my opinion that Slimfast offers no nutritional benefit to you and the baby. Any benefit it does have would be from synthetic vitamins, boo!

However, if you are sick and can't work up the motivation to do anything else, and Slimfast is cheap, I get it. I really do. Here I sit preaching about the benefits of produce and bragging about my freezer, but what have I actually eaten today? M&Ms, oatmeal, doughnuts, more doughnuts, more M&Ms, and Ritz bits. And we haven't even started Trick or Treating yet. In my defense, today is an extra-bad day (I thought we were having LUNCH at work, so I didn't bring any lunch. They only had doughnuts, so I had extras since I was so hungry because I had no lunch!)

Katie - I do feel like I've become enlightened to the goodness of organic, minimally processed foods because of their health benefits and also their superior textures/flavors. But I'm afriad my problem now is that I enjoy even those foods too much.

I like slimfast because it is helping me return to a smaller portion size without requiring too much time in the kitchen to change my mind. I think it's important to not only eat healthy but eat less and slimfast is the easiest route to both for me. But I'm pretty good at staying away from most junkfoods. Mostly because I'm too cheap to even buy them! My problem now is retraining my brain to eat less. And slimfast is just part of what I eat every day. I snack healthy and eat a healthy dinner. It just keeps me away from some problem areas. And since it's only temporary - I'm ok with the rest.

Also, I know the real deal is ALWAYS better that the synthetic version when it comes to nutrients, but I'm still see benefit in the latter. I take vitamin supplements every day even when I'm not pregnant and have seen the benefits for sure.

That makes sense :-) I thought you might have completely abandoned vegetarianism or vegetables, for that matter, haha.
